FIG President Meets Institution of Surveyors of Kenya
	Council
				Nairomi, Kenya 18 April 2013

Chairman of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya, Collins Kuwour
and his Council met President CheeHai Teo socially at the Stanley
Hotel in downtown Nairobi. ISK organized a cocktail where members of ISK
Council and the Executives gathered and interacted with the FIG President.
CheeHai Teo was in Nairobi for the week for the United Nations Human
	Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat) 24th Governing Council (April 15th – 19th)
at the United Nations Nairobi complex.
In the course of the interactions during the evening, the President noted
a number of efforts by ISK to continually advance the role and contribution
of the Profession within Kenya. Also noteworthy is ISK’s intention to
establish a training programme and facility as part of its continuing
professional and capacity development initiative. This initiative is
expected to take on a regional dimension. This is certainly welcomed,
particularly within East Africa, where FIG member associations neighbouring
Kenya could collaborate and perhaps gather some critical momentum towards
	regional professional and capacity development.
CheeHai Teo could not help noticing that the Profession, at each
local practising jurisdiction, in this case Kenya, has its challenges that
included the need to enhance the Profession’s contribution to national
development agenda and the Profession’s standing in society.
